About CWACked Roads

Holding CWAC Accountable for Our Roads

Welcome to CWACked, the voice of frustrated residents, taxpayers, and road users who are tired of crumbling roads, canyon-sized pavement cracks, endless roadworks, and historic streets left to rot.

Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) is responsible for maintaining our highways, but instead of safe, well-maintained infrastructure, we get pothole-ridden streets, botched repairs, and a lack of transparency on spending and priorities. As the people who pay their wages, we believe CWAC should be fully answerable to the public for its mismanagement.

At CWACked, we:

🚧 Expose the reality of CWAC’s failing highways department.
📢 Hold them to account through public pressure and scrutiny.
🛑 Demand transparency on spending and maintenance priorities.
⚠️ Push for action—because road safety shouldn’t be an afterthought.

We refuse to accept excuses, finger-pointing, and never-ending diversions. CWAC works for us, and it’s time they deliver the roads and infrastructure we deserve.

Join us. Speak up. Get CWACked.

But if you do just one thing while you're here, take a minute to e-mail the Head of Highways below and tell her what a great job she's doing. Rose is a lovely lady, skin like a rhino, loves a debate and would be honoured to hear from you :) You pay her hefty wages - have your say.

CWAC’s Wilful Neglect of Chester’s Streets: A Crisis of Incompetence

Chester’s city centre is falling apart, and CWAC’s Highways Department is to blame. From shattered pavements to roads resembling patchwork quilts of failed repairs, the council’s refusal to maintain our streets properly is not just neglect—it’s a ticking financial time bomb.

Take Watergate’s historic stone setts: once a defining feature of Chester’s charm, they are now loose, uneven, and dangerous, left to deteriorate until they require a full-scale, costly replacement. The same pattern is repeated across the city: ignore basic maintenance, let the problem worsen, then act surprised when emergency capital spending is needed. This isn’t financial prudence—it’s gross incompetence.

CWAC’s Highways Department is an unaccountable disaster zone, riddled with a culture of arrogance and ineptitude. Officers act as though they answer to no one—certainly not to the council tax payers funding their failure. They cut corners, avoid scrutiny, and dismiss concerns while our city’s infrastructure rots beneath our feet.

This is more than mismanagement. It’s a fundamental failure of duty. And unless CWAC is held to account, Chester’s streets will continue their decline—until the price of fixing them becomes even more catastrophic.
